What does this mean for me as a mytaxi or Hailo customer?
Initially nothing is going to change. We encourage our customers to continue using both apps as usual. Over the next couple of months, we’ll be working hard to migrate to the mytaxi platform. We’ll inform our Hailo customers well before it is time to migrate. We’ll make sure the migration process goes smoothly and will be very easy. We aim to complete this by the middle of 2017. We are excited that our combined customer base will be able to hail a taxi in over 50+ cities and in nine countries today, but expect to see many more in the near future!
What does this mean for me as a mytaxi or Hailo driver?
In the short-term, there will be no change to the way that you interact with either Hailo or mytaxi. The way you use the app will remain the same and the commercial structure between the drivers and Hailo/mytaxi will be maintained. However, by becoming the No 1 taxi hailing app in Europe and becoming a bigger and better funded business, we will be able to invest even more into customer growth – therefore creating more jobs for you as a driver. Hailo will not become a Private Hire service – we remain 100% committed to licensed taxis.
As a customer will I have to do anything with the app (e.g. download a different app?)
No. During the course of the next year we will be integrating the technology and the two apps into one at which point there may be some actions that our users/drivers have to take. Whenever that takes place, you can be sure that all of the features that you value in your app will be maintained as we migrate to one technology. We hope you’ll also see new features to make getting around your cities even easier.
Will Hailo’s business and online booking tool (Hailo Hub) still work?
Absolutely. If there are any changes as we integrate our technology over the course of the next year we’ll let you know. For now nothing changes and you can continue to use all our Hailo for Business tools.
What will happen to the Hailo brand?
The Hailo brand will continue to exist for the moment in the existing markets but will be phased out by mid 2017. We envision migrating customers in Spain first, followed by UK and Ireland
What are the financial details of the merger?
The deal was a share deal between the two parties, as such no value has been applied.
What markets will the merged company be active in?
From day one, the merged entity will be active in over 50+ cities across nine countries, establishing it as the clear European leading e-hailing business. Here is an overview of the available cities:
Germany: Berlin, Bochum, Bonn, Bremen, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Hannover, Kiel, Cologne, Leipzig, Ludwigshafen, Lübeck, Mainz, München, Münster, Neuss, Nuremberg, Osnabrück, Potsdam, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Weimar, Westerland (Sylt) Wiesbaden
Great Britain: London, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester
Austria: Vienna, Graz
Italy: Rome, Miano
Poland: Warsaw, Cracow, Gdansk
Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Valencia
Ireland: Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Kilkenny, Galway and many other large towns around Ireland.
How long will the integration take?
Once we have received the green light from the Competition authorities, it will be steam full-ahead. The goal is to complete the integration by mid 2017
What is going to happen in Spain?
Spain is the only market where both Hailo and mytaxi operate in parallel. We’re proposing to combine the two organisations and co-locate them in Madrid and one in Barcelona. The Hailo brand will continue to exist for the moment but we hope to move quickly with combining the two customer and driver bases together. We will inform our customers well in advance when it is time to migrate. The migration process will be smooth and very easy to do.
In which cities or countries are you going to launch next and when will this happen?
With the existing footprint of the combined entity, we now have a presence in most of the major European taxi markets. Our goal is to further establish the business as the clear European leader in this space which will involve some degree of geographic expansion outside of the existing territories. However, the specific locations and timing of that expansion are yet to be announced publicly. We will inform you about new locations through our social media channels and newsletter.
